Apps for Windows 8 barely used

Apps for Windows 8 are hardly used. This is shown by a study by Soluto among more than 10, 000 users. In the PC environment, an app is started on average 1.5 times a day, but in a tablet environment it is hardly better.

Tablet users reach an average of 2.7 times a day, a remarkable score because on most Windows 8 tablets apps are the most important software.

But the numbers are even more dramatic: with desktop and laptop users, sixty percent use a Metro app only once a day. On a tablet it is always 44 percent.

Apart from the apps already pre-installed by Microsoft, hardly any other apps are used. Only Netflix gets the top ten. Only in the 14th place is Google Search. The most used are the communication apps from Microsoft, such as Mail and Messaging.

The numbers are not good news for software developers. For the time being, apps are hardly ever earned, simply because they are hardly used.
