TV manufacturer RCA brings a first smart TV on the market with software from Opera, known from the eponymous webbrowser. An Opera TV Store is also available immediately.
According to Opera, televisions are increasingly used for internet activities, such as watching video. Fifty percent also wants to pay for this.
On the TV set manufactured by ON Corporation on behalf of RCA, apps are available from YouTube, BBC Hulu and Pandora. With the help of HTML5 and a development package from Opera, third parties can deliver applications.
It is unlikely that the device will also come to Europe. RCA only develops for the American market.
