NETGEAR's new 802.11AC Wireless Access Point improves Wi-Fi coverage in smaller offices

Gouda, 13 October 2016 - NETGEAR launches the Dual Band 802.11ac Wireless Access Point (WAC104) for small offices and home users. With this low-cost and user-friendly solution, users can significantly improve the reach of their wireless network.

The NETGEAR WAC104 Access Point (AP) supports simultaneous dual band and offers a combined throughput up to 1.2Gbps * (300Mbps at 2.4GHz and 867Mbps at 5GHz *). That is four times faster than 802.11n networks from previous generations. The WAC104 AP works at maximum speed with older equipment, without sacrificing the speed of the connection with the latest devices that work with 802.11ac.

The WAC104 AP is a standalone device that is ideally suited for use in smaller buildings, such as a dental practice or a small hotel. The AP has four Ethernet ports and, thanks to its flexible design, can be placed on desks or on the wall, depending on what is best for the specific situation.

"Owners of small businesses and people who work from home are often their own network administrators. Thanks to 20 years of experience in the home office market, we know what it takes: an affordable plug-and-play solution that combines reliability with good performance, "says Richard Jonker, vice president of product line management for SMEs at NETGEAR. "With the WAC104 Access Point, users can quickly and easily upgrade the performance of their network to the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology. With the installation wizard and user-friendly interface, both technical and less technical users are ready in minutes. "

Main technical features:

  • Superior performance (1.2Gbps *)
  • Simultaneous Dual Band 802.11ac, compatible with 802.11n
  • User-friendly and intuitive interface and one-touch connectivity
  • Standalone AP mode ensures maximum throughput to multiple connected wireless clients
  • Wireless Mesh mode for collaboration with other APs
  • Comprehensive security options with WPA, WPA2 and MAC address Access List
  • Four ethernet ports to connect devices wired
  • External antennas maximize coverage

Prices and availability
The WAC104 is available from both authorized NETGEAR partners and through other sales channels. A suggested retail price is available on request.

* Maximum wireless speed based on IEEE standard 802.11 specifications. Data throughput and wireless coverage vary: environmental factors reduce throughput and coverage. NETGEAR does not guarantee that the product will work with any future standards.
