Free website for Dutch municipalities

The municipality of Vught and internet agency ezCompany will launch a distribution of a working municipal website on 22 April. The distribution is based on the newly developed website for the municipality of Vught. Top tasks have been used for this: based on research into users, the content is limited to the essentials. No more information maze, but make appointments, make payments and pass a move with a simple mouse click. The site is thus inspired by gov.uk, the award-winning website of the British government.

A free distribution of a complete website has never been shown before. Since the site in Drupal CMS has been developed, this step is not that strange. Drupal is an open source system, which means that everyone can use and adjust it for free. The working municipal website is also made available open source: municipalities can download, change and use the website free of charge.

Where a new website costs tens of thousands of euros, the costs for distribution are much lower. The website itself is free and only needs to be linked to the specific software of the municipality and can be provided with its own design. For that implementation, municipalities can go to any internet agency that is at home in Drupal and are therefore no longer tied to a supplier. Moreover, when municipalities have extra functionality developed and make these available again to other municipalities, an increasingly complete free distribution is created. With this, the municipality of Vught and ezCompany hope to positively change the ICT market in the government sector.

The distribution of the municipal website will be launched on 22 April at the Toptaken Congress in the Utrecht Mint building. In addition to Dutch speakers such as Wiep Hamstra (author of "Het Geheim van de Overheidswebsite") and Christiaan Lustig (online strategist for companies and governments), top task expert Gerry McGovern also provides a presentation. Dutch municipalities, the press and everyone who is curious about the website and the changes in the government area are welcome to register via the link below.

'Three quarters of consumers know more than shop assistant'

AMSTERDAM, 13 February 2017 - Dutch consumers are dissatisfied with the customer experience in stores. More than one in four think they know more about products than store employees. This is evident from research by Manhattan Associates, among more than 1, 000 Dutch people. As a countermovement to this undesirable trend, the health chain store Holland & Barrett (formerly De Tuinen) starts a special campaign: anyone who knows more about the products than store employees receives a discount
